What a library or research office usually asks about Evensift, answered on one page.
Where the data goes
Nowhere. Evensift is a static website that runs in the reader’s browser. Reviews, records, decisions and PDFs are stored in that browser’s own storage on that computer. There are no accounts, no analytics, no crash reports and no fonts or scripts from other servers.
The code
Evensift is under the MIT licence. Its code is not published online. It is free to use either way.
Maintained
Every version is listed with what changed. This is version 0.4.
Installing
In Chrome or Edge, use Install Evensift in the introduction or the install button in the address bar. In Safari, choose File, then Add to Dock on a Mac, or Share, then Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad. Installed, it opens without a connection. Safari clears a website’s storage after a week unused unless it is added, so on Macs and iPads installing is the safer way.
Backups
Make a backup from Export and backup, or from a review’s menu on Home. One .evensift.zip file holds the review, every decision and every attached PDF. Suggest keeping backups on managed storage, such as the institution’s OneDrive. Opening a backup always makes a new copy, and it is how a review moves to another computer.
Accessibility
Built to WCAG 2.2 AA. Every action has a key, type size, spacing and themes are the reader’s own, and motion can be reduced or switched off.
